Volvo has premiered the latest technology by unveiling the world-first Cyclist Detection featuring the full auto brake technology, with all-new looks of its 60 range consists of 2014 Volvo S60, V60, V60 Plugin-Hybrid and XC60 at the 83rd auto salon of Geneva International Motor Show 2013. The new Volvo XC60, the best selling model of Volvo, has now improved D5 and D4 variants, where D5 now generates 215 horsepower and D4 produces 163 horsepower with a manual gearbox and All-Wheel Drive system, both have combined fuel efficiency of 18.86 km/liter[5.3 liters for 100 km] and CO2 emission of 139 grams/km. While, the exterior has given an urban look with new hood shape, new headlamps and horizontal lines on the grille with broad looking chrome bars. In the interior, XC60 has now revised by featuring the new wood inlays, new headliner, textile B-pillars and the silk metal frames around the air vents and light controls. In the technical upgrade, the Corner Traction Control is now comes as standard feature where the torque vectoring system assists prevent understeer by applying right amount of brake force to the inner wheels while powering the outer wheels when accelerating out of a corner. While All-Wheel Drive capabilities helps XC60 to cruise through any condition and situation with the XC60 good ground clearance and the Hill Descent Control is a optional feature which guarantees to control vehicle automatically when driving on down steep slopes. The new 2014 V60 Plug-in Hybrid which Volvo claims, the world’s first diesel hybrid. It includes many of the design and technology upgrades of the standard V60, while under the hood the hybrid system, comprised of 5-cylinder 2.4 Litre turbo diesel engine which is capable of generating an output of 215 horsepower and top torque of 440 Nm, where powered is transmitted to front-wheel via 6-speed automatic transmission. In the hybrid system, the rear axle gets the power using an electric motor from an 11.2 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, which generates an output of 70 horsepower and a torque of 200 Nm. Featuring the three distinctive driving modes – (1)Pure Mode – Electric alone mode with a range of upto 50 km, (2) Hybrid Mode – When car starts, it act as a standard mode with both smart coordination of diesel and electric motor, delivers a class-leading fuel economy of 55.55 km/liter[1.8 liters for 100 km] and CO2 emission of 48 grams/km. (3) Power Mode – technically created to give top performance with the combined output of diesel engine and electric motor of 285 horsepower and top torque of 600 Nm, which makes it sprint 0 to 100 km/hour in 6.1 seconds.
