Volkswagen T-ROC–All New Concept SUV To Dazzle At Geneva Motor Show

At the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, Volkswagen is going to debut its latest SUV concept, the Volkswagen T-ROC. The T-ROC is the German manufacturer’s vision of how the brand’s future SUs will look like. In terms of proportion, the T-ROC is 4,179 mm in length, 1,831 mm in width and has a total height of 1,501 mm, which makes it 200 mm shorter than the Tiguan and 300 mm longer than the Taigun concept which is still under its development phase. Just Weighing just 1420 kg, the Volkswagen T-ROC is based on the manufacturer’s latest, modular transverse matrix a.k.a MQB platform. The front and rear track of the T-ROC stand at 1,578 mm and 1,564 mm respectively, and it has a wheelbase of 2,595 mm. The T-ROC features really short overhands: 811 mm at rear and 772 mm at rear, and rolls on 19-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 245/45 tires. The design of the T-ROC was visualized by Walter de Silva and Klaus Bischoff, who managed to come up with something which is refreshingly new while not deviating from Volkswagen’s history. The highlighting features of the T-ROC include D radiator grille featuring a honeycomb shape opening, round headlamps, LED headlights, LED indicators and LED daytime running lights. The car uses LED elements even at the rear. To power the T-ROC, Volkswagen has used a fuel efficient, high torque, turbodiesel engine which puts out 184 PS of power and 380 Nm of peak torque at 1750 rpm. The engine is mated to a newly developed 7-speed DSG gearbox which further connects to a 4MOTION all-wheel-drive system/ With that configuration, the T-ROC can achieve a top speed of 130 mph while the 0 to 62 mph sprint is completed in 6.9 seconds. The concept car is expected to consume 4.9 liters of fuel per 100 km and emit 129 g/km of CO2. The DSG gearbox can be used in three different modes: Street, Offroad and Snow, all of which change the suspension, hill start and hill descent assist settings at the turn of a wheel.
