Volkswagen T-ROC Concept SUV debuts at Geneva Motor Show

Giving a preview of what future Volkswagen SUVs could look like, the German major has unveiled the Volkswagen T-ROC concept SUV at the 84th International Motor Show a.k.a Geneva Motor Show. The SUV is strikingly refreshing and has plenty of highlights including a two removable halves roof, LED headlights, and a progressive design. Volkswagen, who is Germany’s largest car manufacturer, currently offers two of the most successful SUVs of their segments, the Volkswagen Tiguan and Touareg. And in the coming years Volkswagen plans to expand its lineup and enter every possible segment. The T-ROC is supposed to be one of those new models which could take production form in the near future. Volkswagen is currently focusing on an international lineup by showcasing market-specific concept vehicles. In the recent past, the major has unveiled CrossBlue, CrossBlue Coupe and the Taigun, and now comes the T-ROC. Talking about the design of the car, both the exterior and interior feature a new language with more focus going on to the face of the vehicle. It certainly is striking and the two door configuration simply complements it. Another highlight of the design is a two part roof which, at the switch of a button, can fold into the boot of the SUV. Other interesting goodies include front and rear cameras, LED headlights, all wheel drive and more. Powering the T-ROC is a turbo diesel direction injection engine which puts out 184 PS of power and peak torque of 380 Nm, and comes mated to a 7-speed DSG or dual-clutch gearbox. Thanks to the 4Motion drive train, the T-ROC can be driven in three different modes: Street, Off-road and Snow. Other technological highlights include Hill Descent Control and Hill Start Assist. As for the fuel consumption, the 2.0 TDI diesel heart swallows 4.9 liters of fuel per 100 km. The T-ROC is based on Volkswagen Modular Transverse Matrix (MQB) platform which means it is lightweight, 1420 kg to be precise, and offers excellent driving dynamics. The car rolls on 19 inch alloy wheels wrapped in 245/45 tires.
