We have seen plenty of pickup models from various global brands, but then there is the Amarok from Volkswagen which is a little different from conventional pick-ups. Volkswagen has recently announced a special edition model of this multi award winning car called Amarok Canyon, for the UK. The Volkswagen Amarok Canyon goes on sale on April 1, and the German major has already confirmed that only 350 vehicles will be built. The Amarok Canyon edition strikes a perfect balance between high tech features and rugged styling. Some of the highlights on the exterior of the vehicle colour-keyed under-ride guard, 19” Cantera alloy wheels, unique styling bars, front and rear parking sensors, a protective coating for the load area a matt black roll cover and high gloss black side bars and rear bumper. The interior on the other hand also gets many unique features such as satellite navigation with a 6 inch colour touchscreen, Bluetooth connectivity, interior floor mats, privacy glass, heated leather seats and much more. The interior features a pleasant styling update using a combination of Nappa and Vienna leather upholstery available in a two-tone scheme. The colors used are Moonrock and Anthracite, where the former has a lighter tone while the latter a darker one. A unique feel comes from the leather wrapped steering wheel and gear knob featuring a contrasting orange stitching. Volkswagen has also given the interior air vent surrounds a unique treatment in accordance with the exterior color. Powering the vehicle is Volkswagen’s 2.0-litre BiTDI which puts out 180 PS and 420 Nm of peak torque and can tow up to 3200 kg. Transmission options include a 6 speed manual gearbox with selectable 4MOTION and an 8 speed auto gearbox with permanent 4MOTION. The Amarok Canyon will be available in three exterior color options: Copper Orange, Reflex Silver or Deep Black.
For customers who are going to book the limited edition Amarok can also order it with an optional roof light bar which costs £945 (ex. VAT). The Amarok Canyon is priced from £28,990 (excluding VAT) for the manual version, while the automatic model will cost £30,720, again excluding VAT.
