Roma fan pleads responsible to attacking Liverpool supporter

Mastrelli extradited and charged over Liverpool supporter Sean Cox assault

Simone Mastrelli, from Rome, has pleaded responsible to assaulting Sean Cox exterior Anfield Stadium forward of a Champions League tie between Liverpool and AS Roma final April.

Mastrelli had been extradited final month after being arrested on a European Arrest Warrant in reference to the assault on Mr Cox which occurred on 24th April.

The daddy-of-three Mr Cox suffered critical catastrophic head accidents within the assault and has been recovering a the Nationwide Rehabilitation Hospital in Dun Laoghaire.

He spent four-and-a-half weeks on the Walton Centre in Liverpool, a specialist neurological unit for mind accidents, following the assault.

Mastrell entered a responsible plea at Preston Crown Courtroom to unlawfully and maliciously inflicting grievous bodily hurt on Mr Cox.

Sentencing by the Recorder of Preston, Choose Mark Brown, will comply with shortly.

Mr Cox’s spouse, Martina, was in courtroom for the listening to.

One other Roma fan, Filippo Lombardi, 21, was cleared of inflicting grievous bodily hurt on Mr Cox in October, although he was jailed for 3 years for violent dysfunction.

A 3rd man, Daniele Sciusco, 29, from Rome, admitted violent dysfunction forward of the match and was jailed for two-and-a-half years in August 2018.

In relation to the incident, one other Roma supporter, Filippo Lombardi, was discovered not responsible at Preston Crown Courtroom of inflicting grievous bodily hurt, in October 2018
