OneWeb yesterday launched the primary six low-Earth orbit satellites for its deliberate international broadband community, saying it can present worldwide broadband entry by 2021. The satellites are check models, which OneWeb will consider over the following half-year to verify they work correctly.

“If we get six out of six working, that might be wonderful,” OneWeb founder Greg Wyler mentioned, in keeping with a Bloomberg article.

The satellites have been “aboard a Soyuz launch automobile from the Guiana Area Middle in Kourou, French Guiana,” the corporate mentioned in an announcement in the present day. The satellites left the rocket in two batches and “[s]ignal acquisition has been confirmed for all six satellites,” the corporate mentioned.
