Nissan Frontier Pickup With Cummins Diesel Engine At 2014 Chicago Auto Show

Since long Nissan has been recording strong sales in the mid-size pickup segment which has motivated it to come up with another diesel pick-up. At the 2014 Chicago Auto Show, Nissan has unveiled the 2014 Frontier pickup in a new version. Dubbed the Nissan Frontier Diesel Runner, the mid-size truck has been developed in partnership with Cummins. Powering the vehicle is a Cummins developed 2.8-liter 4 cylinder diesel engine that is capable of delivering strong performance figures while remaining compliant with future emissions standards. The 2.8 liter heart puts out close to 200 hp and 350 lb-ft of peak torque, expressing a 35 percent improvement in fuel efficiency over a V6 equipped 2014 Frontier. The 2014 Nissan Frontier Diesel Runner is available in a two wheel drive configuration and equips a ZF 8HP70 8 speed automatic transmission. Though less powerful, the diesel pickup is expected to perform as well as the standard V6 powered Frontier. The pickup has been designed by Nissan Design America together with Nissan Global Design Center in Atsugi, Japan. Some of the exterior highlights of the diesel Frontier include a unique paint job: Arrest Me Red and Matte Silver colors across the entire body along with carbon fiber and carbon fiber film accents. The carbon film coating has been used on various elements such as the mesh grille, roof rack, chin spoiler, full-bed tonneau cover and tailgate spoiler. The car rolls on Frontier PRO-4X-borrowed 16 inch alloy wheels which also feature a unique two-tone paint: Silver for the front while Arrest Me Red for the rear wheels. The brake calipers too come in a contrasting red and silver paint scheme. The interior is just as special and features carbon-print leather upholstery with grey accent stitching and ‘Tracks’ embroidery for the front and rear seats, carbon film-wrapped instrument panel, red-tinted gauges and more. Throughout the consumer days, the diesel truck will be showcased at the 2014 Chicago Auto Show and Nissan is expecting feedback from customers to decide whether the proposition should hit mass production or not. 2014 Nissan Frontier Diesel Runner Image Gallery [gallery columns="2" ids="20345,20344,20343,20342,20341,20340,20339,20338,20337,20336,20335,20334,20333,20332,20331,20330,20329,20328,20327,20326,20324,20323"]
