The 2014 North American International Auto Show which is scheduled to start from January 13 this year in Detroit is going to be very important for most of the majors. It has been a brilliant platform for launching new products and revealing future concepts and for that reason Infiniti is all set to draw the attention with a new concept sedan.
Infiniti has always focused on luxury and performance and the new concept is a perfect blend of the two. The new concept is based on Infiniti Q50 and is dubbed the EAU Rouge Concept. The concept sedan will make its debut at the North American International Auto Show this year and just ahead of it, to create some hype about this beauty, Infiniti has released the first image of the car.
Based on the Q50 premium saloon, the EAU Rouge edition has been developed in collaboration with four-time Formula One World Champions Infiniti Red Bull Racing. Essentially it may be a Q50 but technically it is a lot more than that.
The first thing you notice is the heavy bodywork that goes into the Rouge edition with most of the exterior components redesigned with aerodynamics in mind. To make the EAU Rouge Edition lighter than the standard Q50, carbon fibre has been used to a good extent. As far as the profile is concerned the car is made wider and lower, but the roof and doors have not been touched and are stock. According to Infiniti the car’s design reflects muscularity, refinement, and performance.
Some of the exterior highlights of the concept include carbon fibre front splitter, carbon fibre rear diffuser, carbon fibre side sill skirts, carbon fibre roof and door mirror casings, 21-inch lightweight forged alloy wheels and a dual-exit exhaust sports system.
Talking about the car Executive Design Director Alfonso Albaisa said, “From our shared passion for performance with Infiniti Red Bull Racing grew a collective desire to produce a vision of what a high-performance Infiniti Q50 could look like. The design has a number of distinctive Formula One inspired touches. In particular, the sculpted front wing assembly and the rear aerodynamic packaging take their cues from the RB9 race car,”
As mentioned above the car will be unveiled in Detroit on January 13, so stay tuned for more updates.
