On Thursday, the costs of petrol and diesel have been slashed for the primary time in over two months. Petrol costs have been lowered by 21 paise in each Delhi and Mumbai, whereas diesel value was lower by 11 paise.

In a bid to ease the crunch brought on by hovering gas costs, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley had, on October four, introduced a discount of Rs 2.50 per litre on each petrol and diesel costs after curbing excise obligation on the commodity by Rs 1.50 per litre. He had additionally directed all state governments to slash charges.
