How to Use Apple CarPlay in Your Mazda
To connect your iPhone to your 2019 Mazda6, turn your vehicle on and leave it in park with the parking brake engaged. Use a lightning cable, the cable that came with your iPhone, to connect your phone to the USB port marked with a smartphone icon. You can now access Apple CarPlay on your Mazda Connect screen by pressing and holding the HOME button on your center console, tilting the Commander knob to highlight and select the Apple CarPlay logo in the top left of the screen, or using the Commander knob to select Apple CarPlay from the applications list.
Does Apple CarPlay Need to Update?
As Apple releases updates to the Apple CarPlay system you may start to wonder how you can upgrade your vehicle’s system to the latest version. Apple makes it easy by putting all CarPlay updates on your iPhone’s software updates. That means that for you to get the latest version of CarPlay all you need to do is update your iPhone to the latest iOS version.
Customize Mazda6 Apple CarPlay Apps
When your iPhone is connected to Apple CarPlay, all the available apps you have will be displayed on the Mazda Connect home screen. To add new apps, remove unwanted apps, or customize the app layout, open the settings page on your iOS device. Once in your iPhone’s settings, go to “General”, press “CarPlay”, select your vehicle, then use the delete or add buttons to remove apps or add new ones to your vehicle. You can also tap and drag apps to change the order in which they are displayed on your vehicle’s screen. Not all iPhone apps are currently supported by the Apple CarPlay system.
