Chevrolet has expanded its police vehicle portfolio with the addition of the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Crew Cab SVV (Special Service Vehicle). Based on the highly capable, durable, efficient and award winning 2015 Silverado 1500, the Special Service Vehicle has been specially customized for police use and is expected to go on sale this summer. Offered as a package, the same will be offered on the 1WT and 1LS trims of the Silverado 1500 Crew Cab. Powering the special package equipped model is the 5.3L EcoTec3 V-8 engine that is capable of delivering a max of 355 hp and a peak torque of 383 lb-ft, and returns the highest fuel fuel economy in the two wheel drive category. The fuel efficiency is rated at 23 miles to a gallon for highway. All the police agencies will be able to buy the SVV in either 2WD or 4WD configurations with a shorter 5’8” box or the standard 6’6” box. The special model equips a standard 730-CCA auxiliary battery and 170-amp alternator, allowing the offers to use cameras, radios, computers, lights and additional equipment with the engine turned off. Other features include a 110-volt and four upfitter switches with electrical power supply. Optional features include front center seat delete, spotlamp, flasher system for headlamps and taillamps, vinyl rear seats, common key package, four-wheel-drive switch, rear-vision camera, daytime running lamps delete and more. The model will also feature Duralife brake rotors that double the service life and thus bring down the maintenance cost by a substantial amount. The Chevrolet Silverado SSV will also include a five-year/100,000 mile powertrain limited warranty, three-year/36,000 mile bumper-to-bumper limited warranty, two-year/24,000-mile recommended maintenance, Courtesy Transportation and Roadside Assistance.
