Chevrolet has finally announced the pricing and other related details for the 2014 Camaro Z/28. The US major has confirmed the new Camaro to go on sale this spring and will cost $75,000, including a destination charge of $995. The price does not include tax, title, license and dealer fees. The standard version with the 75k USD price tag will be available in five exterior colors: Red Hot, Black, Silver Ice Metallic, Ashen Gray Metallic and Summit White. Customers willing to pay an additional $1,150 will get air conditioning system and a total of six audio speakers compared to one speaker available on the standard model. “The Camaro Z/28 is an uncompromising performer that’s bred for the track – and every one of its unique components supports the goal of faster lap times,” said Mark Reuss, president, General Motors North America. “It takes the Z/28 back to its racing roots and adds to the strong lineup of Chevrolet performance cars, including a revamped Camaro SS and supercharged ZL1, as well as the SS sedan, Corvette Stingray convertible and 2015 Corvette Z06, which we’ll introduce at the North American International Auto Show next week.” The Z/28 is a track oriented model and it is evident from the way Chevrolet has designed it. This very model offers greater downforce, more g force across corners and faster lap times. Powering the car is the hand-built 7.0L LS7 engine, with dry-sump oiling that has a rated output of 505 horsepower (376 kW) and 481 lb-ft of torque (652 Nm). Mated to the powerful engine is a close-ratio six-speed manual transmission that pushes the power to the rear wheels via a Torsen limited-slip differential.
It is also one of the first production cars to arrive with race-proven, spool-valve dampers that offers four way damping control, allowing plenty of scope for tuning. This further enabled the car to have greater damping stiffness without compromising on ride quality. The car runs on lightweight 19-inch forged aluminum wheels wrapped in 305/30ZR19 Pirelli PZero Trofeo R tires. On the interior, the Z/28 features Octane which is a distinctive, matte-metallic finish trim. The car also uses a flat bottom steering wheel and Recaro seats which feature aggressive bolters and racing seats inspired seat cutouts. The interior components too save a lot of weight thanks to elimination of the tire-inflator kit, removal of some interior sound deadener, elimination of HID headlamps, use of smaller and lighter battery, no standard air conditioning and thinner rear window glass.
